About the Role

Gilbane Federal is seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Specialist to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cost control systems, providing timely feedback to project and business unit management, and supervising the development of client and internal status reports.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor cost control systems to accurately measure progress, performance, and forecast expenditures.
  • Provide timely feedback to project and business unit management on cost issues and suggest corrective actions.
  • Supervise the development of client and internal status reports to effectively communicate schedule status and identify critical path.
  • Apply practical field experience with planning/scheduling knowledge to identify challenges to the project schedule and suggest mitigation plans.
  • Estimate cost and cumulative impact of proposed design or construction changes.
  • Support procurement by contributing to cost analysis for subcontractor pricing to determine whether pricing is fair and reasonable.
  • Understand the risk register and analyze risk to evaluate and forecast contingency requirements for management estimate reviews.
  • Maintain and trend historical cost data from actual hours, costs, and pricing.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • BS or AA in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and train on standard and project-specific cost control procedures in accordance with the Division and/or Business Unit procedures.
  • Identify and communicate key cost issues to project/construction and operations management in a timely manner to allow corrective action to be implemented.
  • Tutor and guide project controls staff in project controls fundamentals, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Deploy and modify project control systems as appropriate to support project-specific execution requirements.
  • Implement effectively use and train on company-standard and industry-standard project controls tools and systems.
