Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Equipment Specialist to join our Central Sterile Processing team at Hospital for Special Surgery. As a Medical Equipment Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and proper functioning of our medical equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean, audit, and transport durable medical equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Provide assistance with the transportation of empty patient beds and stretchers.
  • Perform O2 tank rounds on in-patient units to verify tank levels and ensure proper functioning.
  • Install footboards and traction equipment on beds for in-patient units.
  • Inspect and clean nourishment and med-storage refrigerators.
  • Clean, audit, inventory, and replenish Emergency Code Carts used on patient care units.
  • Recognize when equipment needs repair and follow up with appropriate personnel or department.
  • Perform rounds on in-patient units to verify durable medical equipment use in patient rooms.
  • Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when interacting with patients, visitors, coworkers, and other customers.
  • Promote a supportive and team-oriented environment and assist CSP leadership in projects and/or tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • GED or High School Diploma required.
    • Work experience in Materials Management in a hospital or medical industry preferred.
    • The ability to type 50+ words per minute.
  • Essential Qualifications:
    • Ability to prioritize workflow.
    • Strong patient-centered approach with emphasis on providing exemplary and world-class customer service.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Excellent multitasking skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
