Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, anticipating the needs of the surgical team and ensuring adherence to aseptic technique.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to prioritize patient care preparation and ensure smooth surgical case execution.
  • Differentiate between sterile and unsterile items processed by various sterilization methods.
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and sterile conscience to maintain a safe environment.
  • Support operating room procedures and interface effectively with peers and customers.
  • Assume responsibility for professional development and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Training Program required.
  • Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA or NCCT required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Current registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine required at time of hire.
Physical Demands

The job requires standing for prolonged periods, repetitive motion, and lifting heavy instrument sets. The individual must be proficient in communicative, auditory, and visual skills, with attention to detail and ability to write legibly. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
