Job Overview

SUMMARY: The Procurement Coordinator at Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA) collaborates with various stakeholders including the Nourish Food Services Director, Kitchen Supervisor, Student Engagement Liaison, Production Team, and local farmers/producers to ensure effective management of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients for Nourish NCSA's menu and food initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen Operations Oversight:

  • Manage the receipt of availability lists, deliveries, and ensure proper preparation/storage rotation of all local items in Nourish inventory.
  • Facilitate communication among Nourish Team members and local farmers/producers to ensure timely and accurate information exchange.
  • Engage in the washing, preparation, and storage of local products.
  • Contribute to menu planning alongside the Food Services Director, Kitchen Supervisor, and Student Engagement Liaison, utilizing available local products.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of local products in the kitchen, adhering to sanitation standards and regulations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of local product inventory.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to interpret various documents.
  • Effectively solve practical problems and manage diverse variables in various situations.
  • Interpret instructions provided in various formats.

Team Engagement:

  • Recruit and collaborate with local growers/producers.
  • Organize gatherings for local growers/producers to enhance procurement processes.
  • Work with the Nourish Food Services Director and Kitchen Supervisor to develop standard operating procedures and order guides for local product inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Food Services Director and NCSOTA staff to plan community events such as farmer's markets.
  • Foster an inclusive work environment that values diverse identities and backgrounds.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Promote a culture of excellence and equity by ensuring local growers and producers are treated fairly.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report unsafe working conditions promptly.
  • Comply with all organizational guidelines.
  • Complete mandatory training within the specified timeframe.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Willingness to learn and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in local procurement settings such as farms, markets, or restaurants.
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and certification in food handling.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
