  • Executes modifications, upgrades, or removal and replacement of electro-mechanical and surface mount components.
  • Operates machinery that solders, desolders, presses, shapes, winds, or places component parts.
  • Cleans and prepares parts using various cleaning devices, solutions, and abrasives.
  • Conducts intermediate assembly tasks, including conformal coating, potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies.
  • May perform informal checks on manufactured items prior to formal inspection and testing for product validation and acceptance.
  • May assemble cabinets, chassis, consoles, or similar devices using manual, electronic, or electro-mechanical equipment, and assist other job classifications as needed.
  • Required to interpret process routings, wiring diagrams, and similar production planning documents.
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis for Statistical Process Controls is beneficial.
  • Engages in other necessary activities as assigned and demonstrates competencies to meet business requirements.
  • May serve as a member or leader of a functional or cross-functional team.

Experience Required:
  • Two years of experience in the assembly, rework, or repair of electronic equipment, including circuit cards with surface mount and through-hole components, is preferred but not mandatory.

Knowledge Required:
  • Practical knowledge in electronic component identification, ability to follow routing instructions, and interpretation of mechanical and electrical schematics is essential.
  • Previous training in industry soldering and assembly standards (IPC–610, IPC-620, IPC–7711, and/or J-STD-001) and experience in Electronic Worker Cable & Chassis and Circuit Card positions is advantageous.
  • Solder verification for fine pitch is necessary, including familiarity with IPC 7711 Rework procedures.

Education Required:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Essential Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Maximum weight handling will comply with Environmental Safety and Health regulations.
  • Most tasks are performed in a seated position, with occasional standing, kneeling, or squatting required.
  • Good eyesight and color distinction are essential.

Special Requirements:
  • This position involves the use of solvents, flux, thinners, and other cleaning agents.
  • Visual aids may be necessary, such as magnification lenses, binocular microscopes, and specific personal safety equipment.
  • Secret security clearance may be required.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain relevant solder certifications is a requirement.
