About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Atlas, a leading provider of civil engineering, materials testing, and geotechnical consulting services. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a critical role in informing some of the most transformative infrastructure and environmental projects of the 21st century.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects, resources, and staff while providing expert technical guidance in geotechnical engineering across diverse projects.
  • Perform geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Direct and supervise subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, and geotechnical data interpretation.
  • Supervise and lead geotechnical support during construction of geotechnical elements.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and governmental personnel to ensure comprehensive geotechnical concerns are addressed.
  • Mentor and train junior geotechnical engineers and foster their professional development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or master's degree in geotechnical engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice with an emphasis on geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical field investigation, and construction supervision.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Indiana or ability to obtain.
  • Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice.
Technical Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.
  • Geotechnical background including fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, pavement engineering, and groundwater hydrology.
  • Experience in construction oversight for foundation and pavement construction and earthwork observation.
  • Experience with geotechnical engineering software.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO standards, guidelines, and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium-scale geotechnical projects and manage field geologists and engineers.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check for clearance to work on various private and government facilities.
