Role Summary:
This role involves active participation in the development of budgets, financial reports, statistical analyses, cost evaluations, and other essential financial data. The incumbent will conduct analytical assessments, including reviewing budget proposals and suggesting modifications to meet organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain ongoing communication with department managers and administrative personnel in the creation and examination of financial reports, providing insights and resolving discrepancies related to the approved budget. Offer technical assistance regarding budgeting systems and processes.
2. Oversee and evaluate budget expenditures, generating reports and analyses on financial trends. Gather budgetary and fiscal information from assigned departments. Assess and interpret departmental budget requests to formulate budgetary documents, reports, and recommendations. Participate in budget hearings and present fiscal data as necessary.
3. Prepare and manage the distribution of financial reports and analyses for management and external stakeholders. May present findings to management or committees. Develop visual aids such as charts and diagrams to illustrate past, present, and projected expenditures for comparative analysis.
4. Ensure the accuracy of accounting records to comply with state and federal regulations, as well as GAAP, GASB, and FASB standards.
5. Utilize various financial information systems to conduct complex analyses, evaluations, and reports related to assigned responsibilities. Recommend operational procedures and strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Act as a resource and mentor for junior financial team members.
Education Requirements:
* Master's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* No specific licensure or certification is required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* If holding a Master's degree: two (2) years of experience in financial planning or analysis.
* If holding a Bachelor's degree: six (6) years of experience in financial planning or analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to research, retrieve, and organize data for report preparation and financial documentation, as well as analyze and audit data.
