Job Summary:

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for planning and executing numerical control programs to control contour-path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools. This role requires a strong understanding of machine shop processes, part specifications, and machine capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program new jobs according to Planning & Engineering procedures.
  • Verify programs using tool path verification programs to minimize programming errors.
  • Update existing job programs to incorporate process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop Part Methods to minimize changes and shorten lead times through production.
  • Work with Engineering & Customer to resolve drawing issues and manufacturing problems.
  • Support the manufacturing floor to minimize downtime, solve problems, and optimize cycle times.
  • Evaluate and solve problems on the production floor.

Requirements:

  • High School or Engineering certificate from a college or trade school preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in CNC programming using Mastercam and Pro-E/Unigraphics NX may be considered.
  • Experience programming turn/mill centers and 5-axis programming is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of machines and equipment required to fabricate parts from simple to complex.
  • Computer skills including CAD/CAM knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to produce Customer macro programming as required.
  • Ability to set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain machines and tools.
  • Ability to recognize and address problems in the production process.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and lead the team to high-quality production within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fixture design using Solidworks or a similar CAD system.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and create detailed setup sheets for production.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
