Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Cytotechnologist is responsible for performing complex laboratory tests and procedures on patients of all ages according to established protocols. This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills to provide patient clinical data and microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports.
Key Responsibilities
• Mounts, stains, and examines smears under a microscope to evaluate specimen quality and recommends acceptance or rejection to Pathologist
• Classifies and distinguishes abnormal cell structures and reports abnormalities to Pathologists for further examination
• Documents data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into the hospital system for patient record
• Monitors inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used, and places orders for replacements as required
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Science: Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Laboratory Sciences, required
• Three years of Clinical Lab experience preferred
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
