Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our team at LG Chem. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating manufacturing improvements in our ABS Manufacturing plant in Ravenna, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize polymer compounding processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety across production operations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and improve production processes to meet production targets, improve quality, and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with various departments to foster a sustainable production team culture.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing operations.
  • Assist in achieving manufacturing objectives and maintaining financial controls.
  • Develop and implement creative short- and long-term solutions to product, process, and equipment problems.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing test protocols, experiments, and process validations.
  • Develop machine specifications, identify and evaluate suppliers, and procure equipment for general manufacturing and secondary processes.
  • Consult or provide technical advice to team members on product and process issues.
  • Work closely with the Quality Control team to ensure production of materials that meet quality standards.
  • Implement corrective actions when quality issues arise.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all process-related activities.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of process changes and production performance metrics.
  • Analyze and manage direct and indirect production costs to maintain profitability.
  • Conduct cost tracking and implement cost-saving measures while ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the development of business plans, production targets, and budget forecasts.
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly production, cost, and performance reports to management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or Plastics Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
  • At least two years of experience in a plastics manufacturing environment (extrusion, injection, compression, hot embossing, compounding).
  • Knowledge of polymer material properties, plastic molding, surface treatment and functionalization, heat transfer, and other related topics.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong initiative, self-directed, and takes action on opportunities.
  • Proven problem-solving ability, good documentation skills, and good manufacturing practices.
