Job Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager at Qwerkz is responsible for formulating strategies and initiatives to ensure adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations while fostering a culture of safety excellence within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce accountability among team members regarding the safety plan and effectively communicate objectives, enhancements, and achievements.
  • Identify and evaluate all necessary certifications and training requirements.
  • Lead the creation, execution, and upkeep of safety training programs tailored to the division.
  • Track and manage essential KPIs related to Environmental, Health, and Safety, providing reports to leadership as necessary.
  • Guarantee compliance with air and water quality regulations imposed by governmental bodies.
  • Devise strategies to integrate safety and environmental stewardship into daily operations.
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members to enhance safety practices and performance.
  • Encourage and monitor employee participation in EH&S initiatives and improvements.
  • Oversee contractor safety protocols and training, ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Evaluate and report on contractor safety performance metrics.
  • Maintain Occupational Health programs in alignment with regulatory and organizational expectations.
  • Supervise the responsibilities of the division nurse, including training and certifications.

Ensure the integrity of improvement initiatives, routine risk assessments, and control programs (e.g., pre-task risk evaluations, development of safe work procedures). Monitor the quality and consistency of incident investigations and reporting processes, ensuring the identification and implementation of corrective measures.

Manage and oversee workers' compensation claims and related litigation.


Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in a safety or environmental sciences field, complemented by 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, or 10 years of management experience in a manufacturing setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proven managerial and supervisory experience, preferably in Safety or Environmental management. Capable of mentoring and coaching team members to positively influence the safety culture.

Demonstrated creativity and innovative thinking to address work-related challenges. Strong ability to build and sustain effective teams. Familiarity with best practices and principles for maintaining a safe manufacturing environment. Knowledge of local, state, federal, and other regulatory standards for environmental and health compliance. Ability to facilitate a successful safety program and lead by example, fostering constructive working relationships.
