Risks Management Specialist

At VamosVentures, we're seeking a highly skilled Risk Management Specialist to join our team.
About the RoleWe're committed to building innovative products and infrastructure that accelerate business growth through technology. As a Risk Management Specialist, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our systems and protecting our customers' data.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and experience building scalable decisioning systems. You'll be responsible for developing low-latency decision systems for assessing risk during customer onboarding, payments, authentication, and in-app. Additionally, you'll build in-product levers that enhance our decisioning systems while striving to make risk management invisible.
You'll work closely with our data scientists to seamlessly integrate models into production, handling and upkeep integrity of sensitive data, and ensuring compliance while driving monetary outcomes. In this role, you'll gain specialized knowledge in risk management and contribute to building the most beloved financial services and software.
Responsibilities- Data Quality: Ensure that the data for our decisioning systems is always of the highest quality, utilizing best-in-class services (risk vendors and internal models) to provide actionable insights that drive risk management and customer experience improvements.
- Decision Systems: Develop low-latency decision systems for assessing risk during customer onboarding, payments, authentication, and in-app.
- In-Product Levers: Build in-product levers that enhance our decisioning systems while striving to make risk management invisible.
- Customer Due Diligence: Building systems and tools for comprehensive customer due diligence, including KYC, sanctions, adverse media, PEP, and AML monitoring.
- Experience: 4+ years of professional experience in a software engineering role or equivalent experience.
- Fundamental Knowledge: Strong fundamental knowledge in at least one of the following: machine learning theory or systems.
- Scalable Decisioning Systems: Experience building and designing scalable decisioning systems.
- Programming Languages: Experience working with backend programming languages (Kotlin, Python).
- Communication Skills: Ability to hold yourself and the team to high standards, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work Schedule: Must be willing to work in the office 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Publishing Contributions: Publications or contributions to open-source projects related to data-intensive systems.
- Algorithmic Expertise: Familiarity with algorithms for decision-making under uncertainty, including Bayesian networks, Markov decision processes, or reinforcement learning.
