Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant - Primary Care Woodstock Part Time

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team in Woodstock. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule of two to three days per week.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant will assist the clinic with prior authorizations and serve as a backup Medical Assistant for the floor. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with prior authorizations and coordinate patient care
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or licensed nurse
  • Record medical, surgical, and family histories, medications, and vital signs
  • Prepare patients for office procedures and assist with routine examinations and patient treatments
  • Administer injections and medications as directed by a physician
  • Perform point-of-care testing, including venipuncture, urine dips, finger sticks, strep screens, flu screens, pregnancy tests, and cultures
  • Relay normal test results to patients or read results verbatim from physician documentation
  • Adhere to infection control standards and maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Participate in shared governance, committee work, and practice/department projects
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of recent experience working as a Medical Assistant in a physician office setting or completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 or more years of experience as Medical Assistant or completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program
  • American Heart Association accredited Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
  • Completion of phlebotomy class or equivalent experience
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to type proficiently and accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Medical Assisting
  • Second language proficiency
