We are seeking an experienced Automation and Process Control Engineer to join our team at DuPont de Nemours, Inc. in Buffalo, NY. As a key member of our Corian manufacturing facility, you will be responsible for managing overall area instrumentation, process control systems, and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) to ensure business needs are met through the appropriate application of systems engineering and maintenance in a chemical manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities- Support DuPont's Core Value initiatives, including Safety, Environmental, Process Safety Management (PSM), Ethics, and Respectful Workplace.
- Ensure that field devices, instrumentation systems, communication networks, and interfaces are working properly.
- Lead and support projects involving the application of Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) and other process control technologies.
- Manage and improve Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
- Implement small and large projects affecting the control system.
- Keep track of engineering changes and update necessary documents using the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Provide bug fixes, enhancements, and upgrades to the control system, including software and firmware upgrades, and implementing new technology.
- Assist run plant engineers, technical advisors, technicians, and operators in troubleshooting process upsets.
- Participate in Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) for incidents and near misses.
- Participate in cyclical Process Hazards Analysis (PHAs).
- Maintain interface/logic between control system and MES.
- BS Engineering discipline required.
- 3-7 years of chemical process manufacturing or related experience.
- Learning agility and intellectual curiosity.
- Previous expertise and understanding of distributed control system (DCS) architecture and demonstrated skills in configuring, documenting, and troubleshooting of Rockwell PLC and DCS systems.
- Fundamental understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
- Knowledge and experience related to safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Understanding of Risk assessment principles.
- Rockwell Plant PAX experience preferred.
- Experience with AspenTech IP21 historian.
- MS SQL experience a plus.
