Job Title: RN Fellow

Join Inova's team of dedicated healthcare professionals as an RN Fellow, where you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the patient experience.

Job Summary:

The RN Fellow is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for achieving desired patient outcomes and providing compassionate care to patients in assigned patient care delivery settings. As a RN Fellow, you will work closely with experienced RNs and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans, utilizing Inova's Nursing Professional Practice Model and Care Delivery Model.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient assessments to collect basic data and follow written plans of care, standards, and practice guidelines.
  • Utilize assessment data and patient preferences to identify patient care needs and organize, prioritize, and deliver patient care to assigned patients.
  • Monitor patients' progress toward expected outcomes and adjust plans of care accordingly.
  • Provide compassionate and empathetic hands-on care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • State rationale for clinical decisions based on educational knowledge, principles, and evidence-based practices.
  • Work efficiently within the healthcare team to achieve maximum productivity and identified outcomes.
  • Accurately document all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and seek assistance from others to further develop documentation skills.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings as an active member of the healthcare team.
  • Successfully integrate novice nursing abilities with new knowledge and the capacity to incorporate and transfer these skills into the delivery of safe/high-quality patient care.
  • Identify and seek out members of the healthcare team as a resource to increase practice/knowledge while seeking validation of clinical decisions from unit resources.
  • Showcase openness to feedback, mentoring, and suggestions from colleagues to implement change and enhance care.
  • Attend and participate in all learning sessions assigned for successful completion of the Registered Nurse (RN) Fellowship.
  • Complete all assignments (e.g., classroom work, computer-based learning modules, laboratory simulations, and assigned readings) on time and be able to recall, comprehend, and apply them in the classroom and clinical settings.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, verbalize reasoning, and demonstrate use of equipment and supplies involved in providing safe/high-quality and effective patient care.
  • May serve as a preceptor following appropriate orientation and competency completion.
Requirements:
  • Certification - Basic Life Support
  • Licensure - Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
  • Experience - 1 year of nursing experience
  • Education - Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree
