Job Summary

The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet is seeking a skilled Human Resource Specialist to join our team. This role will provide professional-level human resources work in the areas of personnel and payroll processes.

Responsibilities

Ensure the day-to-day operation of the personnel department.
Assist with resignations, promotions, and requests for registers to fill vacant positions.
Ensure vacant positions are posted in a timely manner.
Oversee registers, schedule interviews, drug tests, background checks, personnel actions, and assist with the hiring of new employees and contract employees.
Process employee of the month and supervisor of the quarter.
Collaborate with human resource specialists to ensure ACA files are completed in a timely manner and meet standards.
Serve as the payroll officer.
Assist staff with daily HR needs, including health insurance open enrollments, assisting staff with career sites, and applying to jobs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from a college or university.
One year of professional experience in personnel administration, business administration, or management.
Strong communication skills, observation skills, leadership skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work under pressure.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
