Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences. As a key member of our Pediatrics Adolescent Medicine department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical innovation.
Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse will engage adolescents and young adults in the clinic under the guidance of a physician and Advance Practice Nurse (APN). The LPN will provide clinical expertise in family planning and prevention strategies, and provide assessment, planning, and treatment of HIV/STI positive youth in the Division of Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides patient care according to Rutgers protocols and policies and the professional standards of the American Nurses Association.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, Title X, CDC, DEA, and the New Jersey Department of Public Health.
- Works collaboratively with all clinic staff and managers to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Assists the physician with the correct ordering of all labs and diagnostics in Epic EHR per follow-up procedures and ensures specimens are collected prior to patient departure from the clinic.
- Assists the physician with management of any pregnancy related follow-up of abnormal results and referrals.
Requirements:
- Possession of a valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Phlebotomy and physical assessment skills are essential.
- Thorough working knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practices guidelines.
- Must exhibit cultural sensitivity to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office components, particularly Excel.
- Proficiency in Spanish is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent research skills.
- Proficiency in EPIC.
- Prior experience working with the adolescent and young adult populations with sexual and reproductive health is highly preferred.
Work Environment: Clinic and Office environment. Moderate noise.
