Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room Surgical Technologist to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and evaluate care of patients undergoing diagnostic and invasive surgical procedures.
  • Keep the Perioperative team abreast of the procedure needs and progress.
  • Identify complex patient needs by reviewing procedure protocol, physician's request, and assessing the patient's physical needs.
  • Prioritize procedure process and supplies for specialty groups of patients.
  • Plan for surgical procedures based on identified needs of surgeons and patients, implementing interventions for identified patient problems as related to surgical procedures and patient needs.
  • Utilize appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care.
  • Determine the equipment, materials, and resources needed to meet the patient procedure plan.
  • Participate in identifying cost containment activities. Monitor and maintain supplies and initiate purchases to ensure par levels.
  • Successfully complete hospital and department-based orientation programs, attending educational programs to develop optimal knowledge in the area of specialty.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent job training. Certification in Surgical Technology preferred.
  • Two years of multispecialty experience. Must be able to function as a clinical expert in at least one service line and have the ability to float to other service lines, as needed.
  • Specialty areas include: Colorectal, Complex GYN, Complex Neuro, ENT, General Surgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Procedures, Reconstructive Surgery, Robotics, Surgical Oncology, Thoracic, and Vascular.
Work Environment

Emory University Hospital's state-of-the-art OR delivers expert care that translates into life-changing moments. We utilize Microscopes, Electrocautery machines, O-Arm, C-arms, robotics, and Neuro-monitoring equipment.
