Job Overview
The primary function of the Extrusion Line Operator is to engage in various physical tasks related to the management of the extrusion line and associated equipment. This role involves transforming raw stock shapes through the extrusion process, enhancing product quality via annealing, and ensuring precision by removing excess material to meet specified tolerances. The operator will be responsible for loading and unloading nitrogen and air annealing ovens, as well as operating centerless grinders.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and troubleshoot all grinding machines.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Manually feed the grinder utilizing an in-feed support table.
- Dress grinding and regulating wheels with diamond heads.
- Utilize a three-point micrometer to measure pre- and post-process rods with precision down to 0.0005 inches.
- Adjust work-rest blades to ensure optimal grinding alignment.
- Program and calibrate the lay-line printing device.
- Manage the loading and unloading of rods, tubes, and plates in both air and nitrogen ovens.
- Select appropriate annealing rigs and oven cycles based on material specifications, dimensions, and polymer shapes.
Additional Duties
- Participate in safety meetings and departmental discussions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of necessary process and quality documentation.
- Experience with production reporting through a barcode system; ability to access and utilize SOPs, JSAs, Exhibits, and Control Plans via the company intranet.
- Familiarity with various hand and power tools, as well as measuring instruments.
- Proficient in operating both stand-up and walk-behind forklifts; OSHA certification is mandatory.
