Job Summary:

As a Pharmacy Technician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, you will play a vital role in supporting the ongoing duties and responsibilities of our pharmacists. This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team to prepare and dispense medications, provide exceptional customer service, and apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications.
  • Apply departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Perform activities as directed by pharmacists and/or pharmacy managers in accordance with federal, state, and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operate computer systems and utilize technology.

Technical Capabilities:

  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance: Demonstrates working knowledge of rules and regulations as they apply to the department and work areas.
  • Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to review, prepare, dispense, and distribute prescribed medications.
  • Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy: Has demonstrated a basic understanding of computers or has successfully completed training for applications that support medication use processes.
  • Drug Inventory & Records Management: Possesses fundamental proficiency working with drug inventory and records management.

Position Qualifications:

  • Responsibilities: Assist pharmacists, apply departmental processes, provide customer service, operate computer systems.
  • Certifications: LIC-Pharmacy Technician - Tennessee.
  • Work Experience: Relevant work experience, less than 1 year.
  • Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
