Position Overview

The Wellness Associate is accountable to the Wellness Director and the Wellness Manager, delivering personalized services and care tailored to each Resident's unique Service Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports Residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene, and mobility assistance as required.
  • Monitors each Resident's overall physical and mental well-being, promptly reporting any changes to the Wellness Director.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of medical materials and assists with procurement as needed.
  • Facilitates shift coverage in the event of unexpected absences.
  • Assists in organizing and maintaining schedules for the Wellness Director.
  • Participates in the orientation and onboarding process for new Wellness Associates.
  • Responds to emergencies involving Residents, providing first aid and coordinating necessary medical follow-up.
  • Helps Residents keep their living spaces clean, organized, and orderly.
  • Addresses calls for assistance and attends to Resident needs in a timely manner.
  • Assists Residents with clothing and laundry tasks when directed.
  • Supports meal selection, service, and feeding as assigned.
  • Contributes to activity programs as designated.
  • Maintains accurate records in accordance with policy.
  • Organizes files as necessary.
  • Engages in a minimum of 6 hours of in-service education annually.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adheres to all emergency protocols.
  • Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Communication:
  • Effectively communicates with the Wellness Director and other staff members.
  • Immediately informs the Wellness Director and/or Wellness Manager of any changes in a Resident's physical or mental health.

Qualifications:

  • Current State Nurse's Aide registration.
  • Experience and a genuine passion for working with seniors.
  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including pushing, bending, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
  • Capable of fostering positive relationships with Residents, their families, peers, and other staff members.
  • In good physical and emotional health, free from communicable diseases.

Physical Demands:

  • Physically capable of bending and reaching.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 60 pounds as necessary.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • May be required to operate a Hoyer Lift.

Additional Information:

  • May be required to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • May be assigned to shifts other than the one for which hired.
  • May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day).
  • Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses.
  • May encounter hostile or emotionally distressed Residents due to their mental state.
  • Background checks, criminal history, and drug testing may be required.
  • May be subject to random drug testing during employment.
  • May have their image used in community advertising.
  • May be recorded by devices installed by families in Residents' apartments.
