Job Title: Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture

The Senior Director, Enterprise Architecture will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape of Sysco, working closely with the Chief Technology Officer to set vision, strategy, and provide overall leadership to the Architecture capability across the organization.

This includes creating, developing, and further enhancing the technology landscape by infusing new leading-edge technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing with existing technologies and processes to drive business improvements while also future-proofing solutions.

The architecture team will continue to experience high growth over the next 2-3 years, and the Senior Director of Architecture will drive the strategy and organizational process across teams globally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Shape the ML/AI transformation to drive business impact that differentiates Sysco's capabilities and performance in the marketplace.
  2. Direct and inspire engineering leadership to design high-volume, high-availability microservices in AWS, Azure, and GCP to meet business requirements and drive tribe-level development methodology on a global scale.
  3. Provide thought leadership in the development and execution of enterprise and architecture domain-specific strategies, standards, and guidelines to define the Enterprise Architecture Target State and Roadmaps.
  4. Chair the Enterprise Architecture Review Board to ensure that enterprise applications and solutions are designed, developed, and maintained in alignment with the organization's strategic goals, standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
  5. Provide architecture support to craft enterprise architecture (server, storage, networks, etc.) for select solutions or applications (e.g., Snowflake, Data Lake, Salesforce) for reliability, scalability, and performance.
  6. Identify, publish, and communicate strategic technology frameworks, principles, and roadmaps to be used throughout the IT organization to guide technology decisions and leverage efficiency opportunities.
  7. Partner with information security teams to incorporate and enforce technical security best practices into the designs of solutions across the company.
  8. Recruit, retain, and develop exceptional architecture and engineering talent while cultivating a positive company culture that values cross-team collaboration and trust.
Technical Skills and Abilities:

Experience with AI, Machine Learning, Automation, Technology Modernization, Generative AI, and a heavy Cloud background.

Sophisticated understanding/exposure to overall API-Management concepts.

Hands-on experience in building APIs, proxies, security practices, and policies development.

Professional technical experience delivering software as part of a development team utilizing tools like React, Node.js, and/or Java in a cloud environment.

Understanding and practical application of development methodologies, test automation, and continuous integration strategies.

Designed and built software solutions using these technologies, including ReactJS.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent self-study.
  • 10 years' experience in a management role leading a team of software engineers.
  • 12 years of professional technical experience delivering software as part of a development team utilizing tools like React, Node.js, and/or Java in a cloud environment.
  • Understanding and practical application of development methodologies, test automation, and continuous integration strategies.
  • Experience in an agile environment.
  • Available for occasional international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a start-up environment.
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical and functional skills of team members.
  • Experience working with global teams.
