This role is centered on pioneering research and scientific exploration within the realm of neuroscience. The Gladstone Institutes, an independent, not-for-profit research entity, is located in a state-of-the-art facility at UCSF's Mission Bay Campus.
The successful candidate will hold a joint faculty appointment as an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the In Residence faculty series within the Department of Neurology or a related department, as well as in pertinent graduate training programs.
Our researchers lead exceptional programs that delve into a variety of subjects, from fundamental biological inquiries to the translation of drug discovery, all unified by the mission of advancing science to combat disease.
The unique combination of a flexible private research institute and a renowned clinical and research university, in close proximity to the biotechnology sector, creates an inspiring and supportive atmosphere for researchers at all levels.
Primary criteria for appointment at GIND include a distinguished record of innovative research, exemplary academic performance, and a dedication to disease-focused neuroscience.
We particularly encourage applicants with a strong potential or proven expertise in elucidating the mechanisms underlying significant brain disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and related conditions.
Additional selection criteria encompass a genuine interest in translational neuroscience and a history of independent grant acquisition.
To qualify for a faculty appointment at UCSF, candidates must possess a medical or doctoral degree, relevant post-MD or postdoctoral training, and a minimum of four years of teaching or mentoring experience by the time the appointment is effective.

Compensation:
The posted UC salary scales establish the minimum pay based on rank and step at appointment. The minimum base salary range for this position is competitive and includes eligibility for additional compensation.
