Job Summary:

The College of Engineering at Penn State University is seeking a talented Academic Adviser to join our team. As an Academic Adviser, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, particularly those in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic advising to in-major students from their 2nd year through graduation.
  • Work closely with department faculty to serve students in the Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Computational Data Sciences majors.
  • Support and participate in various programs such as New Student Orientation and group advising presentations.
  • Develop relationships with key members of the academic community to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
  • Initiate proactive advising interventions as needed and guide students through the goal setting, course selection, and scheduling process.
  • Help students navigate their unique learning experiences and determine appropriate academic plans.
  • Assist with the interpretation of university and college policies and procedures.
  • Address student concerns and make professional referrals as appropriate.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records.
  • Resolve academic problems and escalating unusual matters.
  • Identify and monitor academic progress.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with different student populations in a high-enrollment academic unit.
  • Strong backgrounds in working with high school or college-aged students, and a proven track record of commitment to serving diverse student populations.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $42,300.00 - $67,300.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
