Diagnostic Imaging Aide Job Description

At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Diagnostic Imaging Aide to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our imaging department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the activities of the department, including communication, requisitioning, and managing of supplies, equipment, and staff.
  • Interact and communicate with personnel from various departments and support services, as well as the public and department coworkers.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the department, including test ordering, test result processing, making copies, filing, mailing, telephone calls, film/report retrieval/printing/faxing.
  • Schedule guests/customer appointments, providing appropriate instructions for pre-registration and specific test preparation.
  • Maintain consistent records for billing and tracking, including activating accounts, patient in/out, film sign-/sign/out log, and responding timely to film requests.
  • Responsible for patient/data management, including rescheduling guests/patients and maintaining a system for cancellations, pathology, etc.
  • Provide safe direct patient care, including changing table configuration, assisting technologists, radiologists/nurses as needed, and providing appropriate support in all diagnostic imaging areas as needed.
  • Coordinate cases as directed by the technologist or provider, greeting patients and guests upon arrival to the department, giving complete and accurate instructions, and communicating in a clear and concise manner to fill out necessary paperwork pertaining to their appropriate tests.
  • Review and complete pending report log along with failed faxes, retrieve needed patient-related documents from the computer for radiologists and staff, and retrieve and disseminate imaging medical records.
  • Follow network policy for patient identification, assist with placing patients on and off procedure tables using appropriate body mechanics, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and assist patient needs.
  • Provide clerical support to the clinical team in critical value reporting, stock and clean rooms as necessary, record temperature on refrigerator and warmer, put away supplies/breakdown cardboard, empty linen/garbage as needed.
  • Observe patients in a holding area and assist in transferring and transporting patients in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to falls prevention protocols.
  • Maintain adequate supply of materials for daily use, help organize and maintain a clean and safe work environment, and comply with hospital, local, state, and federal regulatory and accrediting standards as well as department-specific protocols and policies.
  • Participate in continuing education and complete required E-Learning as assigned, and perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous data entry experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 3 months of hire.
