Job SummaryThe Senior Medical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for performing complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, analyzing and assuming accountability for accurate test results, maintenance of complicated instruments, and monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs.
Responsibilities- Performs specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing.
- Analyzes test results and assumes accountability for accuracy.
- Understands, performs, and practices preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoots and takes corrective action.
- Demonstrates pro-active problem-solving skills to identify problems and take appropriate action.
- Communicates relevant QC information to Supervisor or Manager.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A High school diploma (or equivalent) with 15 years of clinical lab experience OR an Associate's Degree with minimum 2 years experience in Clinical Lab setting OR a Bachelor's Degree required with clinical lab experience preferred.
- One of the following certifications: MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT). Certification is waived for those with 5 years of lab experience.
