Responsibilities
The Patient Registration Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience during the registration phase. Utilizing outstanding customer service skills, the specialist is responsible for:

  • a) Ensuring accurate patient identification
  • b) Collecting comprehensive patient demographic information
  • c) Verifying insurance details and eligibility
  • d) Assessing and collecting patient financial responsibilities
  • e) Guiding patients to the Patient Registration Specialist for financial counseling when necessary

The Patient Registration Specialist adheres to organizational policies and procedures regarding patient financial responsibilities and serves as a valuable resource for patients and their families by clarifying hospital policies and patient rights.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ At least one (1) year of experience in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office, healthcare insurance company, or related revenue cycle roles.
+ Relevant education or training may compensate for lack of experience.
+ High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
+ Must obtain quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire, with ongoing compliance through internal resources.

Preferred Requirements:
+ Two (2) years of experience in a similar role.
+ Familiarity with charity care programs and various government and non-government assistance programs.
Special Skills:
+ In-depth understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
+ Proficient in medical terminology.
+ Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for payment processing.
+ Experience in managing financial transactions.
+ Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency.
Pay Range
$28.75 /hour
