Chipton-Ross is currently seeking 20 Aircraft Finishing Technicians for a contract opportunity in North Charleston, SC.
Work Environment:
This role requires 100% onsite presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute painting tasks on aircraft sections according to client specifications and unique design requirements.
- Ensure aircraft readiness for exterior finishing.
- Create necessary patterns, perform layout work, and apply specified primers, paints, and finishes to the aircraft's exterior.
- Prepare the exterior surfaces of aircraft for painting. This position is classified as a non-managerial and non-leadership role.
Essential Requirements:
- Successful completion of training is a prerequisite for this assignment if hired.
Required Skills:
- Willingness to work any assigned shift, including overtime.
- Mandatory use of fall protection gear, safety equipment, and masks.
- Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of direct aerospace painting experience.
- At least three years of painting experience in aircraft, automotive, or general painting is required.
- Experience working at heights and utilizing fall protection equipment is essential.
- Ability to complete fall protection training.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience with clients in the aerospace sector.
- Familiarity with electrostatic handguns.
- Experience operating lift equipment.
- Ideally, candidates should have over five years of aerospace painting experience.
Paint Experience:
- Knowledge of adhesive materials and processes.
- Understanding of color matching, paint formulation, and application techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of shop processes, including Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and material handling.
- Familiarity with material processing for metals, polymers, and composites.
- Understanding of organic chemical processes related to painting.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift less than 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of 21-35 pounds.
- Physical requirements include bending, twisting, walking, crawling, crouching, standing for extended periods, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and balancing.
- Exposure to sealants, solvents, and noise, as well as working on elevated platforms.
- Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending the English language is required.
Education:
- Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with four or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Shift Information:
- This position requires the ability to work variable shifts.
