Position Summary:
The Electronics Maintenance Specialist II is responsible for applying advanced electrical and technical expertise to the installation, upkeep, and repair of electronic control systems and devices. This includes but is not limited to PLCs, machinery control systems, security systems, SCADA systems, CCTV systems, and motor controls within an industrial setting. The role demands a solid understanding of circuit interrelationships, adeptness in planning work sequences, and proficiency in utilizing various tools and testing instruments, as well as interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and perform complex electrical and electronic repairs, replacements, and enhancements.
- Ensure the effectiveness of repairs through follow-up assessments.
- Assemble, test, and maintain electronic circuitry and components according to established technical guidelines, utilizing hand and power tools.
- Operate and service a range of electronic repair tools and testing equipment, including cable locators, oscilloscopes, volt/ohm meters, and advanced diagnostic software.
- Troubleshoot electronic systems down to the component level.
- Interpret and analyze electrical schematics and drawings.
- Calibrate and adjust electronic instruments and industrial PLCs as necessary.
- Verify that tools, instruments, parts, and accessories meet required specifications.
- Engage in preventive maintenance initiatives.
- Update maintenance records and generate reports as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, methods, and techniques.
- Awareness of occupational hazards and safety practices relevant to the trade.
- Ability to interpret national electrical codes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical proficiency for performing necessary calculations.
- Commitment to safe work practices, including the use of appropriate safety equipment and adherence to safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma with formal training in electrical or electronic disciplines, such as technical school or industry certifications.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industrial electronics sector or a combination of 2-3 years in electrical work and 2-3 years in industrial electronics.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and federal background checks.
Physical Demands:
- Regular walking and standing are required.
- Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Involves frequent balancing, kneeling, reaching, bending, and climbing; occasional crawling and working in confined spaces.
- Vision, speech, and hearing capabilities must be sufficient to perform essential tasks.
