The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Wellstar Health System works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Manager, providing direct patient care to individuals with medical and surgical needs. The LPN is responsible for delivering age-appropriate interventions that address physical, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Care Planning: Assess and assist in managing patients' total needs following physician orders and RN oversight.
- Nursing Procedures: Perform routine nursing procedures under RN supervision.
- Care Coordination: Coordinate care and services with RN and other team members.
- Patient Education: Provide patient and caregiver education for self-care and support.
- Professional Development: Participate in staff education and professional development.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation.
- Continuing Education: Attend continuing education and in-services as needed.
- Clinical Skills: Demonstrate strong assessment and clinical skills.
- Technology: Utilize Windows-based computer software for patient care.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing and current State of Georgia professional licensure.
- Licenses and Certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse, Basic Life Support, BLS - Instructor, BLS - Provisional, Georgia Driver's License (Preferred), Private Vehicle Insurance (Preferred).
- Experience: At least 1 year of medical/surgical nursing practice in an acute care setting.
- Skills: Positive leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are necessary, along with the capability to follow directions to patients' homes.
