Job Title: Public Health Licensed Practical Nurse

Join the Georgia Department of Public Health team as a Public Health Licensed Practical Nurse. As a key member of our team, you will provide assistance to public health nurses and county programs, providing general direct nursing care, administering medication, and giving injections. You will be assigned to specific clinical duties within the scope of an LPN practice in public health and act as a lead worker over specified projects or programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer immunizations to all age patients according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform annual school and daycare immunization audits.
  • Complete quarterly reports.
  • Assist with annual scoliosis screenings.
  • Participate in health fairs and educational programs.
  • Perform TB screenings and administer PPD skin tests in clinic and outreach events.
  • Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
  • Use computer technology to collect, store, and retrieve data.
  • Participate in program planning.
  • Communicate in writing, orally, and through electronic means with proper terminology and cultural proficiency.
  • Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adhere to the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Train to provide front desk duties as backup coverage.
  • Assist with working up patients, including vital signs, medical history, and medication review.
  • Manage medication and vaccine inventory.
Requirements:
  • PH Licensed Practical Nurse Level 1 - (Annual salary - $33,000)
  • Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college
  • Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • CPR certification
  • Completion of all necessary orientation and training for Public Health LPN
