Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laborer-WU (Sewer Collection and Maintenance) to join our Water Utilities Department team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing skilled tasks involved in the repair and installation of water and sewer lines, fire hydrants, and manholes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs skilled tasks involved in the repair and installation of water and sewer lines, fire hydrants, and manholes
  • Operates light to medium power equipment, including jack hammers, air compressors, and power saws
  • Uses hand tools such as ratchets, wrenches, shovels, rakes, and screwdrivers
  • Responds to citizen requests/complaints and repairs equipment such as pumps, valves, and lift stations
  • Cleans water towers, reads maps and drawings, and cross-trains to other divisions
Working Conditions

Works primarily outdoors in all types of weather, including extreme heat, cold, and temperature swings. May be required to work days, nights, and/or weekends, with work schedules subject to change. Overtime may be necessary, and you may be subject to 24-hour call.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic knowledge of water and sewer operations required
  • 18 months experience working in sewer and water operations preferred
  • Class B/CDL driver's license preferred, with a valid Class C driver's license and good driving record required
