Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Quality Control Inspector (QCI) to enhance our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in inspection methodologies within an industrial context and will have a thorough understanding of quality assurance protocols and the inspection documentation process.
Key Responsibilities
The primary function of the QCI is to identify and report non-conformances in line with technical drawings, inspection checklists, or other specifications outlined in the quality assurance framework. Daily tasks may include:
1. Detecting defective or non-compliant work
2. Generating reports and documenting the resolution of non-conformance issues
3. Executing and recording specific testing plans
4. Maintaining and distributing accurate technical drawings and revisions
5. Keeping quality control records, documents, and logs
6. Conducting incoming material inspections and vendor assessments as necessary
7. Performing first article, visual, and dimensional inspections throughout the production process
8. Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1/AWS D1.2 welding inspection standards
- Strong organizational and communication capabilities
- The ability to navigate changes and manage competing priorities
- Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competence in standard office software applications
- CWI certification is advantageous
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in quality control
- A high school diploma or vocational qualification
- Experience in steel fabrication or general construction
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
This role necessitates moderate physical activity within a manufacturing environment. Candidates must demonstrate a full range of mobility in both upper and lower body, including the ability to reach overhead, work in various positions (stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting), and handle tools and controls. The ability to lift up to 60 pounds is required. Employees will encounter typical shop conditions such as noise, dust, fumes, and odors, with work primarily conducted in a covered manufacturing setting.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health coverage (medical, dental, and vision), company-paid life insurance, supplemental short-term disability, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
