Job Description:Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a COTA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients, working closely with our occupational therapists to develop and implement individualized plans of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing the rehabilitation needs of patients, following a plan of care in accordance with the occupational therapist's findings.
  • Make routine visits to patients, re-evaluating their therapy needs and communicating significant findings to the appropriate supervisor, occupational therapist, and other team members.
  • Verify the Plan of Care prior to each visit and provide care according to physician's orders, assessment data, established standards, and guidelines.
  • Counsel and instruct patients and caregivers in meeting therapy and related needs, and in the therapy home exercise program.
  • Promote compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payers through education, coaching, and other assistance.
  • Identify and report potential payment/coverage problems to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain current knowledge of, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as current Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement regulations and changes.
  • Assure the continuity of quality patient care is delivered.
  • Maintain communication with clinical staff, providing updates and changes in schedules, patient data or needs, physician orders, or special instructions.
  • Assure clinical notes are entered timely and indicate continuing communication and coordination of services with physician, other staff, and disciplines.
  • Implement all available actions to prevent avoidable hospitalizations and ER visits.
  • Promote Elara Caring's philosophy, mission statement, and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.
  • Maintain patient and staff privacy and confidentiality pursuant to HIPAA Privacy Final Rule.
Requirements:
  • 1+ year of experience as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in a clinical care setting.
  • Current State Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) certification.
  • Graduate of a certified occupational therapy curriculum established by the Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to patients within branch coverage area.
  • Must have dependable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance in accordance with the laws of the state.
  • Meets all applicable agency policies and procedures related to health screening and required testing.
