Key Responsibilities

  • Independently make purchasing decisions that align with customer demand, sales goals, and margin expectations.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape to identify opportunities that align with Macy's strategic objectives.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to address market challenges and provide insights for product development.
  • Support the Buying Director in optimizing in-season business through informed promotional strategies.
  • Prepare for market appointments with comprehensive assortment plans that reflect customer preferences.
  • Establish a clear vision for assortment-building in collaboration with Planning, Pricing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Work with planning partners to develop and execute a cohesive assortment strategy.
  • Create a pre-season assortment vision that aligns with company priorities and insights from digital and planning counterparts.
  • Collaborate with Financial Planning to ensure financial targets are met in support of the assortment strategy.
  • Make informed in-season adjustments based on sales, margin, and turnover forecasts.
  • Assist in building seasonal strategy components alongside Financial Planning and the Buying Director.
  • Provide performance analysis to the Buying Director to guide in-season item-level adjustments.
  • Maintain industry connections to foster new business opportunities and innovative ideas.
  • Ensure timely communication with vendors regarding markdowns and align with Financial Planning for in-season adjustments.
  • Utilize data analytics to inform pricing strategies and ensure execution aligns with financial objectives.
  • Monitor discount rates and sales performance, making necessary adjustments to achieve financial goals.
  • Execute pricing strategies using dynamic recommendations and collaborate on markdown execution.
