Position Overview

SAIC is in search of a Cybersecurity Operations Engineer.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contributing significantly to the upkeep, enhancement, and ongoing evolution of continuous monitoring strategies and initiatives for a military intelligence platform.
  • Employing diverse techniques to detect and monitor potential threat vectors and security vulnerabilities, collaborating with developers, engineers, and operational staff to devise and implement solutions and mitigations for identified issues.
  • Leveraging existing security tools while also having the capability to create custom tools/scripts tailored to the specific security requirements of the program's cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting assessments of cloud-based systems to pinpoint potential security weaknesses and propose solutions.
  • Generating detailed reports/tickets that outline security shortcomings and suggested enhancements.
  • Establishing and automating routine security evaluations for the system to create a comprehensive continuous monitoring framework.
  • Collaborating with the Development team to provide guidance and insights that influence security configuration decisions for the system.
  • Documenting security assessments, current practices, and any additional automated security measures in support of system authorization to operate (ATO).
  • Partnering with development and operations teams to integrate security into their deployment workflows.
  • Creating repeatable processes, security automation, and relevant documentation.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree along with fourteen years of pertinent experience; an additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Security Clearance:

Active TS/SCI Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is mandatory).

Required Certification:

DOD IAM or IAT Level II Certification.

Essential Skills:

Proficiency with common security tools and DevSecOps methodologies (e.g., Nessus, HP Fortify, GuardDuty, Ncat, Prisma Cloud Compute, Clair, etc.).

Familiarity with applicable DOD security regulations.

Strong understanding of RHEL, networking, web applications, and cloud technologies.

Capability to develop and present materials to groups of ten or more individuals.

A minimum of eight years of overall IT experience.

At least four years of experience in a cybersecurity capacity.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.

Experience with scripting and task automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Perl, etc.).

AWS Certified Security - Specialty or other relevant cloud security certifications.

Experience in evaluating and designing common security tools for enterprise environments.
