Job Title: Dental Hygienist

At Peoples Family of Corporations, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a key member of our dental care team, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases.

Job Summary:

The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for providing high-quality dental hygiene services to patients, including cleaning teeth, examining gums, and detecting oral health issues. You will work closely with our dentists and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Treatment Room Preparation: Prepare treatment rooms for patients by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping them.
  • Information Provision: Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments.
  • Material Selection: Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits by evaluating patient oral health.
  • Dental Prophylaxis: Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins.
  • Disease Detection: Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening, feeling and visually examining gums, and using probes to locate periodontal disease and assess levels of recession.
  • Dental Decay Prevention: Arrest dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents.
  • Patient Appearance and Mastication: Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations, cleaning and polishing removable appliances, placing, carving, and finishing amalgam restorations, and removing cement from crowns and bridges.
  • Emergency Management: Help dentists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drugs and oxygen supply, and directory of emergency numbers.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions, and providing reminders of time of next dental hygiene visit.
  • Documentation: Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs and medical and dental histories, and charting in patient records.
  • Confidentiality and Safety: Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential and maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
