Job Summary

This Peer Specialist position is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Veterans. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide supportive and therapeutic services to Veterans in recovery. If you are passionate about helping others and have a personal experience with mental health recovery, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness
  • Help Veterans learn and practice new skills to manage their mental health
  • Support Veterans in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services
  • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on your own recovery experience
  • Participate in the service, training, consultation, and other professional activities of VA health care services
Requirements
  • Be a Veteran who has recovered or is recovering from a mental health condition
  • Have a full, current, and unrestricted peer specialist certification
  • Have at least 1 year of recovery from a mental health condition
