POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all areas within the facility are maintained in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Adherence to all directives and regulatory standards is essential. The candidate should be open to cross-training in various departments and demonstrate flexibility in their responsibilities to meet the hospital's needs. A professional and approachable demeanor is required when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Compliance with all policies, procedures, and the employee handbook is mandatory.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred. Candidates should possess between one to six months of relevant experience or training, or a suitable combination of education and experience. Sensitivity to cultural and bilingual considerations is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently. Clear and concise communication with all levels of nursing staff, administration, and physicians is necessary. Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role involves promoting the facility's mission, vision, and values through effective communication. Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing all assigned tasks with professionalism to reflect the integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
  2. Conducting routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways in a sanitary manner.
  3. Completing work assignments efficiently and on time.
  4. Utilizing appropriate cleaning chemicals and supplies in accordance with established procedures.
  5. Properly using and maintaining cleaning equipment.
  6. Assisting visitors with directions as needed.
  7. Introducing oneself to patients, families, and visitors.
  8. Reporting safety hazards as necessary.
  9. Transporting waste and hazardous materials to designated disposal areas.
  10. Replenishing supplies as required.
  11. Adhering to infection control protocols, including hand hygiene and standard precautions.
  12. Maintaining quality standards while performing job duties.
  13. Working various shifts as assigned.
  14. Demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  15. Observing safety protocols consistently.
  16. Ensuring compliance with age-specific precautions.
  17. Performing all duties in a manner that prioritizes patient safety and minimizes the risk of healthcare errors.
  18. Applying common sense to follow detailed instructions.
  19. Addressing problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  20. Carrying out additional duties as assigned.
