Position Overview

The Senior Director, Technology plays a pivotal role in shaping, advancing, advocating for, and broadening the technology and development practice at OX. This role will also focus on collaborating with the leadership team to foster company growth, enhance profitability, ensure operational excellence, and refine business strategy. Reporting directly to the Co-CEO, this position is vital for steering the strategic vision for all technology initiatives.

This role demands a visionary leader who can craft and implement the strategic direction for our technology endeavors. The Senior Director will lead the development and product teams while guiding client interactions through human-centered methodologies that utilize a wide array of complex digital technologies to address business challenges. The ideal candidate will demonstrate not only a deep understanding of large-scale web and emerging technologies but also the ability to simplify complex technological solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Significantly contribute to the overarching strategic and business goals of OX.
  • Oversee and guarantee the successful execution of all technology projects at OX.
  • Be accountable for the growth and profitability of the technology practice.
  • Manage the operations of the Technology practice, ensuring an optimal balance of capacity, utilization, and profit margins.
  • Achieve operational maturity by implementing and adhering to best practices in processes, workflows, documentation, and standards.
  • Assess client technology systems and processes against business objectives, recommending new technologies, systems, or processes to achieve desired transformations.
  • Support business development initiatives related to technology and development, contributing expertise to project estimates, solution recommendations, proposal development, and pitch presentations.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on OX's Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, systems, governance, management, and support.
  • Develop and expand OX's digital and technology partner program, fostering new business opportunities while enhancing expertise and innovation with key technology systems, platforms, and practices.
  • Ensure overall team well-being and demonstrate excellence within the Technology practice.
  • Contribute to recruitment, career path management, recognition plans, and the culture of the Technology practice.
  • Build and nurture a robust network for web and application development talent for OX, both domestically and internationally.
  • Establish and refine OX's philosophies, processes, and methodologies for delivering human-centered technology solutions.
  • Engage in thought leadership initiatives across various platforms, including podcasts, industry events, white papers, and more.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 12+ years of experience in designing system architectures and developing and delivering interactive products, web-based applications, content management systems, e-commerce systems, and/or maintaining large-scale data-driven technology solutions in a client-services environment.
  • Proven expertise in B2C and B2B technology assessment, architecture, design, and development, with proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: PHP, .Net, Java, C#, C++.
  • Thorough understanding of enterprise e-commerce solutions from leading platform vendors such as Adobe, Optimizely, Znode, and Shopify.
  • Extensive experience with digital experience platforms like Sitecore, Adobe, and Optimizely.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team of software developers, system architects, business analysts, and external consultants in successfully developing technology solutions.
  • Expertise in modern programming techniques for multi-device applications.
  • Strong ability to evaluate business objectives and requirements and translate them into actionable technology strategies.
  • Robust user-centered design orientation.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings or new business presentations.

Success Metrics

  • Development of a clear and repeatable set of technology service offerings and processes.
  • Continuous improvement in quality (customer satisfaction) and effectiveness (on-time and on-budget delivery) of solutions and deliverables for all technology and development practitioners.
  • Increased volume and profitability of technology practice billings.
