Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Officer I to join our team at the City of San Diego, CA. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all functions included in the design and construction of small to medium City construction projects from the design stage through completion of construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all functions included in the design and construction of small to medium City construction projects
  • Assist in managing large, complex construction projects
  • May supervise support staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education
  • Three years of full-time commercial, industrial, governmental, park construction or large-scale residential construction project management experience
  • Qualifying experience must include BOTH of the following: Preparing and reviewing contract documents; and planning, coordinating, estimating, scheduling and inspecting construction projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project control and cost engineering experience using Microsoft project scheduling software and/or other tools
  • Program management experience including making strategic project implementation decisions to support the organization's broader goals and mission
  • Expert-level knowledge and experience with MS Excel including but not limited to, advanced features such as running queries, data analysis, data visualization, advanced formulas and macros
