Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Tribal Adult Nurse Assistant to join our healthcare team at the Pala Band of Mission Indians. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality care to adult tribal members, working closely with our licensed nurses to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care and Hygiene: Provide patients with routine care, including bathing, grooming, and toileting, to promote independence and well-being.
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration, and report any unstable signs to the licensed nurse.
  • Assistance with Activities of Daily Living: Aid patients with bathing, dressing, and eating to promote independence and well-being.
  • Transferring Assistance: Assist patients with transferring from bed to wheelchair, from wheelchair to bed, and other locations to prioritize comfort and prevent potential injuries.
  • Transportation: May be required to assist in transporting patients to and from appointments or activities.
  • Range of Motion Exercises: Provide patients with range of motion exercises assigned by the medical care team or licensed nurse.
  • Communication and Relations: Maintain good working relations with patients, families, other Pala employees, and community members through effective communication.
  • Confidence and Competence: Instill confidence in patients by maintaining a neat appearance and performing duties competently and caringly.
  • Safe Environment: Maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers, transporting patients and equipment as necessary.
  • Meal Assistance: Assist with meals and feed patients as needed.
Requirements
  • Certifications and Licenses: Must possess a valid California Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and CPR certification.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare facility is required.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be in good physical and emotional condition to properly care for patients.
  • Background Check: Must pass a background check and possess a valid California Class C driver's license in good standing.
  • Drug-Free Workplace: Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace, including marijuana, as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cultural Competence: Must be culturally competent and have high ethical behavior.
  • Flexibility and Independence: Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and support agencies.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Indian Preference: The Pala Band of Mission Indians will give hiring preference to fully qualified applicants who are Pala Tribal Members.
