Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, management, and execution of various departmental programs and activities.
  • Support the recruitment, scheduling, and supervision of qualified staff members.
  • Maintain accurate records of program participants.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, necessary repairs, complaints, accidents, or injuries promptly.
  • Stay informed about risk management policies and procedures, including Emergency Action Plans.
  • Oversee pool maintenance and operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • May perform duties as a lifeguard, water fitness instructor, swim coach, or swim lesson instructor as needed.
  • Act as the Director on Duty as scheduled.
  • Assist in developing ongoing training programs that align with the YMCA's mission and member needs.
  • Contribute to the administration, promotion, and operation of center activities and special events.
  • Support the Aquatics Director in ensuring program operations adhere to organizational procedures.
  • Complete all incident reports thoroughly and submit them to the Aquatics Director.
  • Provide suggestions for operational improvements.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts as required.
  • Handle participant complaints with professionalism and courtesy.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience in the relevant program area.
  • Preferred one year of supervisory experience.
  • Current nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Preferred Lifeguard Instructor certification from a national organization.
  • Ability to perform and pass rescue skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills and adaptable to new software.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary for travel within the service area.
