Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description

Bond Health is seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at our well-staffed Health and Rehabilitation Center in Queens, NY.

Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant will work directly under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and perform duties related to the personal needs of residents, care of supplies and equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness, comfort, and safety of residents in their environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide or assist with bed baths, tub baths, whirlpools, and showers, ensuring the safety of residents.
  • Provide personal grooming, including hair, nail, shaving, personal clothing, mouth care, and perineal care.
  • Prepare laundry for pick-up and return.
  • Check residents' bodies for skin care, including rashes, discoloration, or edema.
  • Feed and assist with feeding when necessary.
  • Provide a calm and pleasant environment.
  • Engage in cluster feeding while seated.
  • Monitor daily intake and inform nurses.
  • Record food intake on Nutrition Work Sheets.
  • Make beds.
  • Use recommended amounts of linen and diapers.
  • Dispose of linen properly.
  • Utilize clean and dirty linen carts correctly.
  • Secure call bells to beds.
  • Maintain beds in proper condition.
  • Be knowledgeable about linen precautions.
Safety of Residents
  • Ensure restraints are indicated on assignments and applied correctly.
  • Check restraints at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Supervise resident ambulation when needed.
  • Ensure side rails are up on beds when necessary.
  • Complete dining room duties as posted by the charge nurse.
  • Be alert for spills on the floor.
  • Answer call bells promptly.
  • Makes rounds frequently.
  • Report repair and safety needs to the charge nurse.
Testing of Urine and Collecting of Specimens
  • Have knowledge of proper procedures.
  • Record results.
  • Inform nurses of results.
Cooperation
  • Work well with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Maintain appropriate relationships with residents, families, and peers.
  • Assist other departments, such as recreation, when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff members.

Requirements:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • CPR certification (preferred).
