Key Responsibilities:- Assess and evaluate the health and developmental status of students to make informed nursing diagnoses and establish priorities for action.
- Interpret health and developmental status to school personnel, parents, and students as appropriate.
- Provide health education and resources to students, parents, and school staff.
- Develop and implement health plans, and participate in school conferences as needed.
- Provide care, delegate, and teach care to others under the established plan of care, following the direction of a physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and/or parent.
- Attend continuing education programs as required by licensure, and participate in Aveanna in-servicing and training as offered.
- Exhibit behavior that supports and promotes students' rights and overall well-being.
- Follow Aveanna and school board policies and procedures that affect the health, safety, and well-being of students in the school health setting.
- Report any changes in students' mental, physical, or environmental condition to the physician, nursing supervisor, school designee, and parent as applicable.
- Recognize and report signs of substance abuse, physical abuse, or neglect.
- Provide a clean and safe environment within the school, including the safe use of equipment.
- Identify appropriate methods for storing equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Maintain and coordinate standards of nursing while managing a comprehensive school health program.
- Provide preventive and rehabilitative measures, assisting with nursing assessments and screenings to promote safety and health for all.
- Perform treatments and/or procedures with skill and competence.
- Maintain and follow physician orders for any invasive procedures and/or skills.
- Administer medication as per MD order and/or parental consent.
- Provide individual teaching and training with students and/or others to encourage and promote student independence when applicable.
- Collaborate, coordinate, and supervise services with others to promote academics and individualized student needs.
- Accurately document services provided in accordance with agency policies and procedures on the day the services are rendered.
- Submit nursing documentation, logs, reports, and timesheets within a timely manner and per policy.
- Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
- Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current Basic Life Support certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures.
- Continuing Education as required by state.
- Pediatrics experience preferred.
- Must be able to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times.
- Attention to detail.
- Time Management.
- Leadership skills.
- Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Good organization and communication skills.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must be able to travel.
