Johnson & Johnson, a leader in medical technology, is seeking a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to join our innovative team.

As part of our commitment to advancing digital surgery and robotics, this role will focus on the design and implementation of FPGA solutions that enhance our surgical robotics systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with diverse teams to deliver high-quality FPGA designs, ensuring seamless integration and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain advanced FPGA solutions tailored for robotic applications and patient-side controls.
  • Document design specifications and requirements in accordance with established design control protocols.
  • Create comprehensive test benches and plans to validate FPGA designs against defined requirements.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to assess system performance, identify limitations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate root causes of electrical and software issues during both prototype and production phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate software, hardware, and system integration, as well as product testing and delivery.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field).

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of industry experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with a Master's degree in FPGA-based systems.
  • Expertise in Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL, along with experience in large-scale RTL designs.
  • Familiarity with the latest FPGA technologies and design methodologies.
  • Experience with embedded software and FPGA integration.
  • Knowledge of verification and validation processes.
  • Proficiency in Git and scripting languages such as TCL and Python.
  • Strong collaboration skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Self-driven and accountable, with a willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience in robotic control systems and medical device development.
  • Background in verification and validation of medical technologies.
