ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a proactive and passionate Principal Server Solutions Architect to join our dynamic team. In this influential position, you will play a crucial role in enhancing AMD's capabilities to deliver top-tier, industry-leading technologies. The Server Customer Engineering team is dedicated to continuous technical innovation, showcasing achievements while promoting ongoing career growth. This is a vital role that requires a comprehensive technical background, encompassing silicon, platform hardware, architecture, and software to create advanced products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilize cutting-edge technological and scientific methodologies to develop and optimize EPYC SoC products and platforms. Identify areas for improvement, design experiments, conduct Proof of Concept studies, build consensus, and implement new techniques directly into product development. Your proven success as a Principal Architect will empower you to prioritize, influence, and drive results across the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Lead architectural discussions primarily with Datacenter customers, taking ownership of challenges and driving resolutions with urgency.
  • Exert significant influence on internal and external platform architecture discussions, maintaining high visibility and effective communication.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and consultant to senior executives.
  • Deliver measurable outcomes, including technical analyses, customer communication proposals, meeting documentation, and presentations.
  • Demonstrate expertise in server system topics such as architecture, design, memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management, contributing to the future direction of EPYC architecture.
  • Enhance training materials and collaborate with team members to achieve results.
  • Provide training on relevant topics as required.
  • Identify opportunities for advancing current methodologies, conducting experiments, and applying new techniques in product development.
  • Collaborate across various organizations, including design, system validation, and manufacturing, to optimize power, performance, and total cost of ownership (TCO) through to product launch.
  • Exhibit the ability to deconstruct complex system-level challenges into manageable components and drive resolutions through data-driven decisions.
  • Mentor and coach senior staff members.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Self-motivated with the ability to independently drive tasks to completion.
  • Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debugging, and validation strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., C/C++, Perl, Ruby, Python).
  • Expertise in debugging techniques and methodologies.
  • Significant experience with board/platform-level debugging, including delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering or a related field.
