Key Responsibilities

The Home Health Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA, LPTA) is responsible for implementing treatment plans and providing exercise instruction and patient education aimed at enhancing the patient's overall well-being while adhering to the established care plan.

Specific duties include:
  • Complying with all state regulations governing physical therapy practices in home care.
  • Executing treatment plans as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Performing only those procedures for which you are qualified and trained.
  • Recommending modifications to the care plan to the supervising Physical Therapist.
Assist patients with active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, functional activities, and safety measures.

Document and communicate the patient's responses to treatment and any changes in their condition to the supervising Physical Therapist, nurse supervisor, and/or physician.

Collaborate with other healthcare team members to coordinate comprehensive care.

Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members on therapy-related topics within the scope of the Physical Therapy Assistant role.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
  • A current license, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • A valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
