Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at TGH Urgent Care powered by Fast Track. As a key member of our mid-office team, you will provide exceptional patient care under the direct supervision of our providers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform medical assistant procedures, including preparing patients and examination rooms, taking initial medical history, and explaining the process to patients.
  • Undertake front office and clerical duties, such as assisting patients with paperwork, verifying patient demographics and insurance benefits, and performing billing and bookkeeping functions.
  • Assist providers with special procedures, including minor surgery, as required.
  • Outline care instructions to patients as instructed by providers.
  • Assist with procedures taught through formal training or by providers.
  • Update medical records in accordance with procedures and forms.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and medical ethics principles.
  • Keep rooms stocked with medical supplies, wash and dry instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Clean wounds, draw labs, electrocardiograms, and apply dressings and splints as directed by providers.
  • Assist patients with urgent needs or as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Assist with lab procedures under provider supervision or with training given.
  • Notify patients of lab results, give vaccines, immunizations, and medications prescribed by doctors; perform lab work, such as throat cultures, hematocrits, and urinalysis.
  • Properly handle and store medications in the office.
  • Complete required trainings assigned by the organization.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate empathetic and superior communication skills.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service and patient care.
  • Effectively act as a liaison between patients and providers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Follow established office routines and policies.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Understanding of ethics of confidentiality/HIPAA.
  • Display a courteous and friendly attitude to patients and team members.
  • Experience with EPIC strongly preferred.
  • Perform other admin-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to assist with front office duties as needed/requested.
  • Cross-train between front office and mid-office responsibilities as needed to ensure a synced clinic.
Education and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • BLS certification, required.
  • Hold a current Certified Medical Assistant certification, required.
  • Experience with EPIC strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Work Environment
  • This job operates in a professional medical environment.
  • Onsite position.
  • Consistent use of technology throughout the shift to complete assigned work tasks.
  • Frequent use of working on a computer to complete assigned work tasks.
  • Ability to move supplies and office equipment (up to 20 pds).
Work Schedule and Travel
  • Typical Work Schedule: 40-hour work week, Sunday through Saturday, with 3 x 12-hour shifts and 1 x 6-hour shift.
  • Every other weekend, required.
  • Overtime hour availability based on patient volume and clinic needs.
  • Regional staffing requires travel within the region. Travel outside the region may be required based on volumes and clinic needs.
  • Mileage program available for eligible movement.
  • May require traveling to clinic locations outside the preferred region during training.
