Job Opportunity
Cadets with the Clark County Sheriff's Office play a vital role in providing administrative support to law enforcement activities. As a Cadet, you will have the opportunity to work part-time hours while pursuing your education.

About the Role
The Sheriff's Office Cadet Program is designed for college students who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement. Cadets receive paid on-the-job training in non-enforcement activities and are eligible for benefits. The program allows students to balance their academic responsibilities with practical work experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform various administrative tasks such as records management, data compilation, and report preparation
- Assist the public at the front counter and provide information related to departmental activities
- Control access to the building or section, answer phones and radio calls, and operate office machines
- Maintain files, lists, and other materials, and receive, open, process, and distribute mail

Skills and Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident
  • Be at least 18 years old (or within six months) at the time of application; must be 18 years old at the time of hire;
  • Have a high school diploma with a GPA of 2.0 or higher;
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college or university at the time of appointment;
  • Maintain a minimum of 9 college credit hours per quarter or the equivalent except during summer term;
  • Maintain a minimum of 2.5 GPA (cumulative and per grading period) while serving as a cadet;
  • Have a valid driver's license;
  • Not have been convicted by any state or federal court of a crime punishable in a state or federal institution;
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from the Criminal Justice Coordinator, Professor, Academic Advisor, or CCSO Explorer Advisor;
  • Pass a multi-phase examination established by the Sheriff's Office - consisting of oral interviews, a background investigation, a polygraph, and a drug screen;

Salary Information
This part-time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $16.59-$21.56.
